These inspections are becoming more common as they are being adopted by the local municipal building departments as a standard requirement when a home renovation is proposed.

They can be done by a registered Private Inspector (PI) or Professional Engineer. The goal of this inspection is to answer (a) is the system performing as intended and (b) is a proposed renovation of the home going to impact the system beyond its design capacity, if so, can something be done with the system to upgrade or replace it.

Compliance Inspections entail a similar process to the Performance Inspection but with a little more time spent detailing the components, specifications, and drawings. If one isn’t already in place, a Maintenance Plan is created, detailing ongoing maintenance & monitoring requirements. Maintenance Plans are standard practice with new systems today and can take part of the credit for the much longer expected lifespan & performance of modern systems.
